Louis Liu, 18

Louis Liu is a New Zealand flautist currently studying at the Musik-Akademie Basel with Felix Renggli, having previously studied with Philipp Jundt. He has appeared as soloist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in the Ibert (2023) and Reinecke (2024) Flute Concertos, and performed Vivaldi with the Lucerne Festival Strings Chamber Orchestra. He also participated in the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra; winning 1st prize across a multitude of competitions, most notably, the Australian International Flute Competition (Young Artist) in 2019, the Sir James Galway Flute Competition in 2024, the Swiss SJMW National Competition in 2022, and the German Flute Society’s International Online Competition.
