Nikolai Song, 23
Nikolai Song currently serves as Principal Flute of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, where he was appointed by Manfred Honeck in 2022. He previously served as Acting Principal Flute with the Berner Symphonieorchester in Switzerland, and as Assistant Principal Flute with the Sinfonieorchester Basel. He has appeared as guest principal flute with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatsoper Hamburg, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen, and is a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra. A recipient of the ICMA Discovery Award, he has performed as soloist with the Basque National Orchestra, Barcelona Baroque Orchestra, Orchestre National de Cannes, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Esperanza. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, under Philippe Bernold and Florence Souchard-Delépine, and later at the Haute École de Musique de Genève under Jacques Zoon.
