Siyu Sun, 22

Admitted in 2016 to the Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music as the top-ranked student, Siyu Sun studied with Professor Deng Meng. In 2022 she continued at the Central Conservatory of Music as the highest-ranked entrant in her major and served as Principal Flutist of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2025 she was selected as an intern with the China National Symphony Orchestra, collaborating with numerous renowned conductors and performers. An award-winning flutist, she has received top prizes in numerous international competitions, including the Prokofiev International Music Competition, the Singapore International Music Festival – Western Instrumental Competition, and the Yamaha Scholarship Competition. She was also a semifinalist at the Aeolus International Wind Competition. As a soloist and orchestral musician she has performed in Germany with the Frankfurt Philharmonic Orchestra as flute soloist in Devienne’s Flute Concerto No. 7, receiving wide acclaim. In August 2024, she was admitted to the Beijing Youth Symphony Orchestra and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York as piccolo soloist. In 2025, she performed as flute soloist with the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, presenting Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 in an arrangement for flute.
