Federico Altare, 29

Federico Altare is a flutist whose work spans classical, early and contemporary repertoire. Federico is currently based in Paris, where his freelance work has brought him to work with ensembles such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Orchestre National de France, and under conductors such as S. Rattle, Y. Nézet-Séguin, K. Mäkelä and T. Currentzis. He is a member of Les Arts Florissants (dir. William Christie) and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (dir. Gábor Takács-Nagy), and his solo career includes performances at the Philharmonie de Paris and the Cité de la Musique, and collaborations with leading baroque directors such as Jordi Savall and Lionel Meunier. Alongside his orchestral and solo work, he explores chamber music, electronic music, and transcriptions as a means of expanding the flute repertoire.
