Principal 2. Violin

The audition will take place in the concert Hall, Odense, Friday October the 2nd 2026

Odense Symphony Orchestra is looking for a Principal 2nd violin. We focus on the applicant’s outstanding technical and musical profile and on the soloistic presentation as well as a broad knowledge of repertoire and style and on open and cooperative attitude towards the role as group leader. This is a full-time position.

Invited applicants will be notified at the latest by e-mail on September 4th, 2026.

The orchestra will provide an accompanist for the audition.

Travel and accommodation are at the applicant’s own expense.

An accompanist for the audition will be provided by the orchestra.

The 1st round will be played behind a screen

1st round: 
1st and 2nd movement including cadenza from one of the following concerts:
A. Mozart: Concerto for violin no. 3 in G-Major (KV. 216), no. 4 in D-Major (KV. 218) or no. 5 in A-Major (KV. 219)

Excerpts from orchestra repertoire.

2nd round: 
1st movement incl. cadenza from one of the following concerts:
Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky or Nielsen

Excerpts from orchestra repertoire.

3rd round:
Chamber work: Beethoven op. 18. no. 6, 1st movement (no repetitions) with the concertmaster and principal string players

Excerpts from orchestra repertoire, and a short interview.

There may be a 4th round in the orchestra.

Salaries and working conditions are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Musicians Union and Dansk Erhverv.

This amounts to:

1st solo 36.753,80 DKK/month.

Pension: 18,00 %

 The Odense Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra with 66 musicians and a technical-/administrative staff of 16 employees. The orchestra is based in Odense Concert Hall and has an annual audience of approx. 75.000. The core activity is the performance of symphonic concerts. In addition to this, the orchestra’s schedule comprises school and family concerts, film music, church and chamber concerts, opera performances and CD recordings. The orchestra tours regularly in Denmark and abroad. The annual budget is appr. 70 million DKK.
