Audition in the Odense Concert Hall, Friday September 9th, 2022
Odense Symphony Orchestra is looking for a Principal 2nd Violin. We focus on the candidate’s outstanding technical and musical profile, on the soloistic presentation, as well as on an open and cooperative attitude towards the role as group leader. This is a full-time position.

Immediately after the deadline the Jury will invite selected candidates among the applicants.
Round 1, 2 and 3 will take place on September 9th (1st round will be played behind a screen)
Third round consists of a chamber music session with the concertmaster and principal string players from Odense Symphony Orchestra.
There may be a 4th round in the orchestra.
Applicants who are invited to the audition are required to submit a 75 € / 500 Kr. deposit upon accepting the invitation. The deposit will only be deducted in case of a No show or withdrawal after the final deadline.
A French master instrument by J.B. Vuillaume (1862) is made available for our principal 2nd violinist.
1. round: 1st and 2nd movement including cadenza from one of the following concerts:
W. A. Mozart: Concerto for violin no. 3 in G-Major (KV. 216), no. 4 in D-Major (KV. 218) or no. 5 in A-Major (KV. 219)
Excerpts from orchestra repertoire.
2. round: 1st movement incl. cadenza from one of the following concerts:
Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Tchaikovskij or Nielsen Excerpts from orchestra repertoire.
3. round: Chamber work: Beethoven op. 18. no. 6, 1st mvt. (no repeats),
Excerpts from orchestra repertoire, and a short interview,

Salaries and working conditions are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Musicians Union and the DEOO – Danish Ensemble, Orchestras and Opera Institutions.
Applicants with citizenship other than EU/EØS are responsible for obtaining valid residence and work permits by the time of employment in Denmark.
An accompanist for the audition will be provided by the orchestra.
Travel and accommodation are at the applicant’s own expense.

The Odense Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra with 73 musicians and a technical- /administrative staff of 12 employees. The orchestra is based in Odense Concert Hall and has an annual audience of approx. 85.000. The core activity is the performance of symphonic concerts. In addition to this the orchestra’s schedule comprises school and family concerts, church and chamber concerts, opera performances and CD recordings. The orchestra tours regularly in Denmark and abroad. The annual budget is approx. 60 million DKK
