De blå toner gemmer sig mellem noderne, de latinamerikanske rytmer pulserer gennem orkestret, og alt emmer af jazz, swing og improvisation, når Odense Symfoniorkester og TipToe BigBand smelter sammen til en taktfast og groovy maskine. Vi tager dig på en tur over Atlanterhavet – til de fyldte og festlige natklubber i New Orleans, hvor jazzen ånder og lever. Gershwin var manden, der bragte jazzen ind i koncerthusene og forenede den klassiske og rytmisk musik i et af det 20. århundredes mest berømte værker, nemlig Rhapsody in Blue. Og når vi kaster os over Cuban Overture og Daniel Freibergs Latin American Chronicles fra 2015 tilføjes den lidenskabelige latinamerikanske folkemusik og tango-fornemmelse. Efter al den amerikanske inspiration slutter vi med et helt nyt dansk værk for symfoniorkester og bigband. Oplev årets fynske jazzmusiker 2019, Michael Salling, og OS’ egen klarinettist, René Højlund Rasmussen, når de folder sig ud i hæsblæsende og virtuose solopræstationer.

The blue notes are hidden between the nodes, the Latin American rhythms are pulsating through the orchestra and everything emanates of jazz, swing and improvisation when Odense Symphony Orchestra and TipToe BigBand coalesce into a rhythmic and groovy machine. We will take you on a journey across the Atlantic – towards the packed and festive night clubs of New Orleans where the spirit of jazz resides. Gershwin was the man who brought jazz into the concert halls and united the classical and rhythmic music with one of the 20th century’s most famous pieces, Rhapsody in Blue. Passion filled Latin American folk music and tango sensation will be added, when we proceed to Cuban Overture and Daniel Freiberg’s Latin American Chronicles from 2015. After all of the American inspiration, we will end with a completely new Danish piece for the symphony orchestra and BigBand. Experience 2019’s jazz musician of the year, Michael Salling, and OS’s own clarinetist, René Højlund Rasmussen, when they demonstrate their breathtaking and virtuous solo performances.
