– Beethoven And Katrine Gislinge
The celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday will culminate on this day when Odense Symphony Orchestra recreates the special atmosphere of Beethoven’s own ‘Academy Concert’. These celebrations by and with the genius himself were, in the beginning of the 1800’s in Wien, crowd-pullers of a rather chaotic nature where candles would fall on the piano and audience as well as musicians had to endure something that resembled freezing temperatures indoors during the harsh winter months. The sheets of music were naturally still wet from Beethoven’s stressful writing having been finished mere hours before the many long concerts and the orchestra had been massively under-practiced. However, OS guarantees better circumstances of the unique marathon concert, dedicated by the temperamental composer, where Katrine Gislinge is the soloist of a whopping two piano concertos with cadences specifically composed for the occasion by her husband Bent Sørensen.
It will also be possible to buy food and drinks to complete the festival vibes this Saturday.
